Maintenance
maintenance of a waterbed Because the quality of tap water is not as
high everywhere, and in order to avoid algae growth as well as keeping the water fresh, it is
recommended you add a bottle of waterbed conditioner every half year. A tiny bottle is
sufficient for half a year, the larger sized bottle can be used on a yearly basis.
It is not necessary to empty and refill your water mattress. Furthermore, the enclosed air in the waterbed needs to be extracted - you can listen and decide for yourself when to do so. We also advise cleaning the mattress at least four times per year with a suitable Vinyl Cleaner. Also use a good cover, which absorbs and regulates the transpiration moisture. The mattress itself does not absorb any moisture, and is therefore very hygienic. It is important, however, to air your water mattress properly every day, just like any other type of mattress. It is recommended that you follow the guidelines carefully. If you do that, the water should never need to be replaced. We insist you always use the same type and brand of waterbed conditioner, because not every product is compatible. Adding different types of conditioner or adding it too late can produce unwanted odours. In that case, it is sometimes advisable to replace the water. Vinyl Cleaner for waterbeds
The exterior of the water mattress can be
cleaned by spraying Vinyl Cleaner on its surface and wiping it off with a dry cloth. Doing so, you
will improve the durability of the mattress, because you are removing the excess moisture caused by
transpiration. A mattress that has not been cleaned for a long time will leave some salty residue.
These grains are also present in traditional mattresses, only they are harder to see.
BEWARE! It is NOT recommended that you clean the water mattress with ordinary soaps or detergents. The coverThe cover, designed for your 4D-water mattress is machine washable. Make sure you pay close attention to the washing instructions. Despite the fact that some cover types can be washed at high temperatures (95°C), most modern washing products will allow you to wash them at lower temperatures. Washing at lower temperatures is just as efficient and more importantly, it is better for our environment.Washing larger sized waterbed covers can be a bit too heavy for some washing machines (with max. payload of 5kg). Most waterbed sleepers prefer a cover which can be separated into 2 individual parts, so they can wash the cover themselves. However, if you would like to keep the cover in one piece, you should be able to wash it at a launderette. |
